As a boutique sustainability consulting firm, Planterra has helped dozens of clients realize their social and environmental goals. We’ve applied our decades of experience and knowledge to the full spectrum of social and environmental issues affecting our clients.

Our areas of expertise include solid and liquid waste management, social and environmental procurement, transportation demand management, energy and resource conservation, carbon reduction, green buildings and corporate environmental management systems.

Our staff work both independently and with qualified associate consultants to provide you with the expert advice and services you need in a timely and cost-effective manner. Unlike larger firms, Planterra does not have the huge overhead and staffing costs that must be passed on to you – the customer.

Who We Are.

Our Origins

In late 2002 as the issue of climate change and humanity's impact on our planet came increasingly to the forefront, Planterra's founder and President, Rob Janus, identified the need or a local consulting practice to assist businesses, governments and individuals to improve their social and environmental performance.

By February 2003, Rob had left his longtime career with the Capital Regional District's Environmental Services department to start Planterra Management Inc. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Planterra has gone on to work with many clients from Southern Vancouver Island, mainland British Columbia and other parts of Western Canada.
